Despite its seamless looks, Scott's CR1 Carbon frame is not a monocoque. It's made by a manufacturing process known as Carbon Welding, a precision tube joining process. Each CR1 features CNC-cut tubes that fit together extremely well. As the tubes fit very tightly together, less material is needed at the joint. From there, Scott wraps the joint in small amounts of fiber oriented in multiple directions to create a very strong but almost invisible "lug" or joint. The result is an extremely smooth, light and great-handling ride!
